Wheelchair basketballers head to Japan

TEHRAN, Oct. 06 (MNA) – Iran's national wheelchair basketball players left for Japan on Tuesday morning to attend the IWBF Asia Oceania Championship.

Asia-Pacific Championship possesses quotas to the Paralympic Games and therefore has a special significance.

Iran’s national team consists of Vahid Gholam Azad, Morteza Ebrahimi, Morteza Gharibloo, Omid Hadi Azhar, Alireza Ahmadi, Morteza Abedi, Ebrahim Taghilu, Abolfazl Mousavi, Esmaeil Hosseinpoor, Ahmad Yousefi and Saman Belaghi Inanlu headed by Kamal Eshgh.

Iran will compete with Australia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Philippines and Taiwan in pool A while the teams present at pool B include Afghanistan, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.

Accordingly, for their first match, Iranian Basketball players will compete against Malaysia on October 10.

Hosted by Tokyo, Japan, Mitsubishi Electric 2015 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Asia Oceania Championship will be held from 10 to 17 October.
